OP/TECH USA 1301322 Adapt-Its - System Connectors

UPDATE: 9/26/2015: It has been 6 months since I put these on my camera and have been working beautifully for me, with no problems or issues of any kind. I can think of no reason why this won't continue to work for as long as I decide to keep this camera.These little gems saved the day for me. I have an unused vintage camera strap I wanted to attach to my new camera. It had 3" long metal clips that were attached to swivel D-rings that are attached to the actual strap. The metal clips just barely attached to the strap mount on my camera but it was very noisey (metallic jingle) and the large clip interfered with the camera's On/Off button. I removed the clips and set out to find some sort of double ended clip or small carabiner, hoping to find something vinyl coated to dampen the jingle. First I found the OP/TECH Utility Loop Connector and that worked better than the previous set-ups. Then I stumbled upon these Adapt-Its, which is a good name for something that I wouldn't have otherwise known what to call besides "doodads". It adapts my mounting brackets on the camera to a silent mount AND it can be attached either way giving me the flexibility to allow more clearance around the On/Off button. Since this probably doesn't make much sense, I am attaching some photos of my now perfectly adapted set-up.I have to state how impressed I am with the fantastic quality of the OP/TECH items I purchased. They are well made, perfectly sized, very reasonably priced, and MADE IN THE USA! Because these are very rigid plastic, soaking in hot tap water didn't work. Soaking in almost boiling water softened it just enough to be flexible enough to be worked under the camera's mount on the left side (coming in from the side) & get the Adapt-It seated in place. It is sturdy and I feel very secure that it isn't going anywhere. But it was a No-Go on the other side where I wanted to come in from the top. After a number of tries, reheating each time between attempts, I finally got the idea to thread a length of twine through the loop and then threaded the twine under the camera mounting bracket in the direction I wanted the Adapt-It to take and pulled the twine. It put up a good a struggle, but I got that sucker pulled through. Now I have exactly what I want, and the ability to unlock the clip to detach the strap If I want without having to remove these Adapters. If you still are not convinced of my endorsement of OP/TECH, how about this: Every product has a lifetime warranty. Yep. That is dependability. (And no, I do not work for them and I did not get any sort of discount on my purchases and I would buy them again. This from a cheapskate extraordinaire.)

I got these Adapt-Its along with OP/TECH USA Swivel Hook Connector to to use with an OP/TECH USA Pro Strap - Black because I wanted something that was comfortable and could be easily removed from the camera.I also purchased OP/TECH USA Utility Loop Connector, a different product that serves the same function as these Adapt-Its. Both solutions work and are functional, however I had a slight issue with these Adapt-Its on my Canon T4i and T5i bodies and I had zero issues with the loops. I decided not to use these and instead ordered a second set of loops, I just keep these Adapt-Its as backups.The slight issue I had with this product is that they attach to the camera body very close to (and pointed at) the power/mode dial on the Canon T4i and T5i bodies. This makes changing modes quickly a bit of a hassle sometimes. They don't fully obstruct the dial (which is still usable), but they do get in the way. I didn't have any similar issue with the loops because they are flexible and just hang off the side.Fitting/installing these was relatively easy. It was helpful to soak the Adapt-Its in hot water before inserting them into the hooks, it's a very tight squeeze on Canon bodies.Compared to the OP/Tech Utility Loops:(+) This product costs less and you get 4 total Adapt-Its, making it very inexpensive(+) This product is lower profile and doesn't leave anything hanging off your camera when your strap is disconnected(-) Obstructs the power/mode dial slightly on Canon T4i and T5i bodies(-) I found this product slightly more difficult to connect/disconnect to the strap compared to the loops. The extra length and flexibility of the loops make them a bit easier to work with.Overall I prefer the loops and found it worth spending a few more dollars to get a second set of them instead of using this product, but I might have stuck with these if I were using a different camera where the power/mode dial was not so close to the hooks where these attach.

These actually worked almost perfectly, when I say "perfectly" I did have to tweak them a bit to get them through my lanyard pivots on my Nikon Monarch Bino'sTip: Soak them in a cup of hot to boiling water for a minute or two to soften them up, then simply push them through your binot pivots and use a pair of needle nose pliers to kind of squish then WIDTH wise; they'll thread right through, and they're much more durable and easier to use than leather straps, etc. And once they're in they don't come out easily so you can remove them from your badlands bino case, or the strap all together.Great product.

I use a hand grip and and don't always need a Neck Strap.So I wanted some way where I can easily release the neck strap.This fits on one side and on the other side I put a triangle ring along with the Canon E1 handstrap.These hooks are great because they don't swing around and make noise. They're small and stay firmly in place on my canon T3i.Theres a little trick though to making it fit since you need to insert it at an angle on the T3i.What you need to do is boil some water and drop the connecter in. Let it sit for about a minute or 2. Take it out, dry it and shove it in. It will bend and secure right in place. (see picture I added to description) Good product.Hope this review helps someone else out there looking for something similar.
