TEMPUR-Symphony Pillow, White, 1 Count (Pack of 1), 2017

I intermittently wake up with a sore neck or headache for lack of a decent pillow. Through the years I've tried a bunch. Generic foam rubber. Contoured. Down (How the hell do those feathers keep escaping?). Fiber, made of God knows what petrochemical byproducts. Fortunately, none of them exploded into flames. I even bought those pillows advertised by the crazy fitness guy with the ponytail. I felt like I was sleeping on a bag of sand with those. So, I finally pried open my wallet and tried the much heralded Tempur-Pedic Symphony. I've slept on it for three nights, and I like it quite a lot already.As for the usual comments and sometimes complaints: First, yes it had a chemical smell when I first opened the packaging. I followed the advice someone left here and did not put a pillow case on it. The odor dissipated within a few hours to the point where I was not bothered by it. After three nights, there is just a trace of the odor left. I expect that will be gone soon. It's a non-problem.Second, I did not find the pillow too firm for my comfort the first night I used it. Based on what I read in Amazon reviews and on the Tempur-Pedic website, I made an effort to break the pillow in a bit before I slept on it. I rolled it up in every possible direction. I scrunched it up every way I could. And I kneaded it like dough. I did this a few times before I slept on it. Yes, the first night the pillow was firmer than what I was accustomed to, but it was not uncomfortable. The pillow does have a very different feel to it than a conventional pillow. As the weight of your head pushes down on it, the pillow sort of pushes back as it is always seeking to return to its original shape. Like I said, I didn't find this uncomfortable, but it was a little odd at first. I can see why some people take several nights to get used to it. After three nights I feel quite comfortable sleeping on it. If it continues to grow more comfortable over the next several nights, as most people report it does, it will be fantastic.I go to sleep on my back. But through the night I will also sleep on my side and stomach. Another reviewer suggested this pillow was not very satisfactory for sleeping on ones stomach, but I find it comfortable in all three positions.As the problem with the headaches and sore neck is intermittent, it may be a while before I can testify that the pillow has solved that problem. Because of the price, I held my breath as I hit the purchase button. Let's face it, these are expensive pillows. But considering the money I've wasted on pillows over the years, this looks like it could be $100 very well spent on sleeping, and waking, comfortably. (If it turns out that I'm still waking up in the morning with those headaches and sore necks, I'll update the review and let y'all know.)

As may others have stated the smell for the first week is a little overwhelming and I have sensitive sense of smell anyway. However...after one night on it I did not mind the smell one bit. It really was THAT comfortable. After about 4 days I noticed a mild neck ache, which lasted 2 days. I think perhaps my neck was simply adjusting to a proper fitting pillow. I absolutely love this pillow! I take it everywhere. I don't sleep without it no matter where I go. Money well spent! I saved for a long time to be able to buy this pillow and I don't regret the purchase at all. Now the whole family wants one.3 years later!STILL loving this pillow!! It does soften up over time, but does not loose support. I never sleep on any other pillow. I travel with it. I am literally in love with this pillow. No more neck or shoulder aches. I am a side sleeper, but tend to roll on my back later in the night. No muscle soreness either way

This is a great pillow. We bought one from RC Willey when we bought our tempur-pedic bed. The one we got from another store was great. I ordered one for myself from amazon. I used it, and it wasn't as firm as my husband's. It feels soft and like someone has been using it for the past 10 years. We are returning it and buying it from a different venue.

I love this pillow! From the moment I got it, it was sooo soft. I never had to break it in or anything like that. I don't know why people keep saying the pillow is too hard when you first get it, because it was never hard for me. Because of those reviews, I tested it by putting a pillow cover over the pillow when it was still covered in plastic, and decided that it was so comfortable, I would definitely keep it. I took another review's advice and only slept on the pillow case it came with for 5 days. The smell went away in a day, I think... Definitely by the second day. But I would recommend this pillow... when you lay on it, your head just sinks in, and you feel like you're sleeping on a cloud. I'm glad I got this pillow, and I'm sure you would be too.

I really liked this pillow. I bought it in May last year. It provided enough support to solve my neck pain problem with other softer pillows. But after more than a year of use, it got much softer all the sudden in the last two weeks. I know because I bought another one for my wife a few weeks later after I got my first one. I compare them side by side I can surely tell the difference. It's not the way they are shaped differently, but how soft the material (of my pillow) became. I hope the one for my wife will last longer than mine. But mine is done and I need to look for another brand. $90 (and it's now $140?!) for one year is too expensive.

I love my tempur-predic mattress, and really wanted to like this pillow. I have tried all the tips to break it in, but in the end, I don't think my head is heavy enough (5'4", 135 lbs) or my body temperature high enough to make it soft. I can push my head down on the pillow and it feels great, but then my head slowly gets pushed back up and feels way too firm. Maybe there is another version I should have gotten, but for the price, I am tired of trying pillows.

I searched endlessly for a pillow and finally decided to purchase this one. I am very happy with it! It has a flat side and a side with an upward slope so no matter how you sleep, it’s pretty comfortable. It also keep pretty cool so I don’t find myself flipping it over to get to the cool side. It was definitely a pricier option but I feel it was worth it. I haven’t had it long enough to speak on its durability but it seems well made.
