I have always reacted strongly to bug bites. Mosquitos and other bitey bugs love me, and I get big reactions to their bites. Not a great combination, especially for someone who lives in a very buggy area in the Desert Southwest.I've tried lots of various bug deterrents, but Thermacell is the first one that has actually made a huge difference in my outdoor experiences.It takes a few minutes to warm up and create a barrier, so usually my husband takes it out and sets it up before we plan to go out. There is a detectable scent - I don't find it either pleasant or unpleasant, but it's there.But this thing works.Before we started using Thermacell, my daughter and I were getting dozens of bites, and were absolutely miserable. After we started using Thermacell, the bites went to near-zero.The refills are very easy to use, and they last an acceptable period of time. If we forget and leave one out overnight, we'll have to replace the refill, but if we use it only when we are outside, it lasts a while.

Works as promised! I had about 10 on my back patio while I was trying to watch tv and within minutes of turning it on, they cleared out or fell and I was able to get them. Watching it work in real time was very satisfying because I should be able to enjoy time on my patio without worrying about them. I don’t know how long each of them last because I usually sit out for hours at a time but I do feel like they don’t last long enough. I’ll keep buying them though because they work so efficiently and I don’t have to worry about a harsh smell.

The original worked great, however upon buying this refill I ended up with 5 bites, I don’t know if this refill is weaker but I’m disappointed that it wasn’t as effective as the one it came with the device.

I originally bought the unit that came with a cartridge. It lasted probably more than a year so I loved it so much I bought a replacement cartridge. Easy to insert into unit and worked perfectly right away. Highly recommend!

This mosquito repellent works quite well. My husband is always eaten by mosquitoes, and they stay away when this is sitting out. I highly recommend this item.

It really works

Like most people we want to push a button and get immediate results. You can do that with this. As I sit writing this, I just had a ton of mosquitos circling my bare legs with the device 6 inches away. I had a little bit left in the cartridge and had it running about 5 minutes and it was like I smothered my legs in something to attract them. So, I replaced the cartridge with a new one, and it's been running about 10 minutes and starting to show signs of working around 3 feet... not the distance advertised. The key here is plan ahead and you really have to have one almost per person... Don't plan to have a dinner party and have one device. Unfortunately, it is not that effective... it's kinda like one of those personal handheld fans in hot weather.
