This will work fine if everything in the chain is SATA i.e. disk controller on the motherboard or PCIe card, regular SATA cables, and SATA drive. It will also work fine if the disk controller is SAS and the adapter end of the cable is a regular SATA connector.I purchased this because I want to enable hot swapping of some SSDs in my home server. The adapter can be screwed to the SSD cage and allow me to take the drive out without having to unplug any cables: much safer than running the risk of pulling other cables out at the same time and ruining the storage pool. It does the job a treat.

I need to change the Sector Size on some SAS drives so Unraid can detect them.Connected this to the SAS drive and then connected the lead from my HBA card to the drive and Ubuntu detected the drive.Now I just need to format the rest of the drives using this, although I may end up ordering another 3 of them.

Plugged it into the hard drive and it didn’t work

Can confirm this is suitable to connect a hba card such as an LSI 9212 414e hybrid sas/sata port to a sas drive. Tested in Unraid.Very pricey for what it is and moulded fitting is not as tight as other adapters. But does the job

No matter which drive I connected it to it wouldn’t recognise it, shame as it would have been useful if it had worked.

Not sure if it's my hardware or this adapter but I could not access the drive it was connected to.

The sentence I wrote in the headline should be in capital letters in the title of the product. It converts your SAS linkage to SATA but a normal home computer motherboard cannot communicate with it.

Doesn’t work can’t be arsed for refund as it was cheap
