When connected to VDM2 you do not have a internet connection, you need to connect back to your WiFi to download anything...
I feel bad for those who have had bad experience with the VDM2, I think a lot of those having problems forget that this device works on WiFi and when you connect to it you are no longer connected to the internet. This would explain why so many people described having problems downloading updates, if you try to update when connected to the VDM2 it will seem like it downloading then give a message that download failed. I have used this on 2008 Dodge Avenger, 2012 Infiniti G37, 2010 Mercedes C300, 2009 Audi A4 all with no problems. I think the best thing you can do is when you receive the device is to follow the directions to connect to you vehicle for the first time and register it. Next disconnect from the VDM2 then on your Android device make sure your connected to your WiFi in your Android device settings, then in the UCANDAS APP go to Update on the main menu screen. There will be a list of all available programs for manufacturers you put a check by all the programs you think you will ever use, then tap the update button and download all of them at once. This way has worked perfectly for me

Returned for not being able to read ABS in my 2 Silverado trucks. 2000 & 2002.
VDM2 failed to read ABS in my trucks. Seller offered to send a second unit to be capable of ABS reading but did not. This unit can not connect to ABS in a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado K2500HD. This unit can not connect to ABS in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado K2500HD.WiFi connection is quick & easy, after user finds Android software. No manual, no web address, no clues sent with new VDM2. To make it work, search "ucandas", get Android app. Be able to read pale text on pastel screen.WiFi range is long. OBD2 P codes reading is fast. Did not try other functions.After 3 tries, app failed to download "updates" for Chevrolet. VDM2 ownloaded ALL updates on first try, though I did not want my phone memory wasted on data for car & truck makes I will never see. Returned for not being able to read ABS in my 2 trucks.

I really wanted to like this scanner - but too many issues.ProNice looking deviceNeutralMust pair the unit with your phones wifi - then your phone uses your data connection to update the app - just click your car model or this can take an hour.ConNo Bluetooth support despite this being an option on the menu.Box and device is all you get - no instructions.No user manual online - no youtube video - nothing aside from a basic coloring book document http://blog.uobdii.com/ucandas-vdm-2-multisystem-scanner-on-android-user-manual/.Not a very helpful app - in fact, has a help button that when pressed causes the app to crash!Description states you can do Key Programming - well no menu item for this and no manual for guidance. This is just one example several other items could not be found readily.I have a 2012 Golf R - US model - you have to enter your model of car - mine was not there so I picked something close.This was with updated software - how can it be updated and not have a 6-year-old car?I have had this for 4 hours and now will be returning it hopefully.

This scanner is useless, I havent been able to connect to a single car. I've installed all the updates, connected the scanner to my phone but to no avail. Save your money a day buy the $8 scanners floating around on the web. If I could give this product 0 stars I would.

Save your money this does not work as advertised
Don't waste your money on this product I got it to program the immobilizer for my Acura it only does one or two of the functions out of them all I've tried it on a couple different Vehicles now and same results has a hard time connecting and is very spotty on which systems it will check and Bluetooth does not work

I have been using it, but in some cars the app restart, I'm trying to scan an MR2 Spyder 2002 with a SMT transmition, but when I choose SMT the app goes off and restart
