Bought these to use not so much for handhelds but for the base station mobiles as an emergency "last ditch" antenna. I purchase three and fully extended I'm measuring a variance between a 1.3:1 to a 2:1 VSWR on 144MHz with an impedance match of about 53 ohms with a suitable ground plane as a reference. This is a huge improvement from the 7.5:1 duck on my existing handheld. However, that being said the SWR is the lowest when the antenna is fully extended. When fully extended the antenna is very very flimsy. Much of the forces are acting on it near the BNC connector. the collar of which is retained by a spring and it feels like one or more field outings might destroy it. For stationary operations this is an excellent portable antenna that is compact enough to be stored virtually anywhere.I cannot produce SWR measurements for 70cm as my analyzer does not have the range, but being that the 440MHz band is very close to being a third harmonic of 146MHz a 2m antenna with sufficient bandwidth may also have low SWR on 70cm. With this being an omnidirectional antenna I suspect the performance is comparable.73, KN4GEI

I bought this antenna to see if I could get any better reception on my HT from within my home. While it is an improvement over over my HT's stock antenna, I didn't notice any improvement over my much-loved Nagoya NA-320a with adapter, despite it's extendible added length. I'll have to be very careful when it is fully extended as it doesn't look like it can take any abuse at all. It was a cheap experiment but the best that I can say is that it's not a fake antenna and it's better that a stock ducky.

Gave me more range on HT when needed with the telescope ability.

I saw a post on a Ham Radio group on FB about this antenna with a lot of positive comments. I couldn't help buy pick one up. What ham radio operator doesn't have a drawer full of HT antennas? Quite a long antenna, so the fact that is telescopes is a good selling point. Get's great reception. I'll use it when sitting at my campsite, but not for hiking around. It has that nice 1970's retro feel to it. Reminds me of my walkie-talkies back when I was a kid.
