The features and size of this dog food mat are good. But it is not meant for puppies, especially those that are teething. My young dog chewed, and spit out many pieces all over his kennel. Left a big mess. The one really good thing is that the food and water bowls do stay in place.

I use these to hold cat and dog bowls and also for just outside the litter box. My dog can move the pad around the floor when he is working to get all the food from his bowl, but the cat doesn't move his when he get out of the litter box. I use the smaller size for food and the larger size for the litter box. They are cute and super easy to clean. We have multiples.
