Truly awesome looking but not an easy install.

Let me start off by saying that I really like the fixtures. I bought the 4-light and the 6-light versions and I really love them. I was a bit apprehensive about buying a product off Amazon that was un-reviewed (as I write this I am the first one to review either of these fixtures) but when I got them up they were exactly what I was hoping they would be. They're sleek, antique-looking and solid in quality. They're built out of actual galvanized pipe and hardened steel (seriously, I dropped a fitting and chipped a tile) and anything like this bought in any kind of brick and mortar store or from a fancy catalogue would easily be $400 or more.I am not a certified electrician. But I am handy and I know enough to be dangerous. So, with that said here's the bad news and and what's keeping these fixtures from 5 stars (and really has them dangerously close to 3).1) There are absolutely no instructions. Assembly is pretty straight forward and easy to figure out but still, I was surprised. Zero literature or diagrams what-so-ever. It comes in a box (nicely packaged) and you're own your own.2) There is no template for mounting the bases. One base is for the electrical housing the other is for support. The support base has a mounting bracket just like the electrical base (as you can see in my pictures). So figuring out where to drill your holes is very challenging without some sort of diagram like you would get for even a cheap towel bar. Here's my hack for this: First, get the bracket for the electrical housing base up and mounted (not the base itself, just the bracket it mounts to). Then assemble the bases on the fixture and assemble the support fixture with the bracket in place on the base (like it comes in the box). Then, with the fixture assembled (minus the light bulb cages) use a glob of toothpaste (yes, toothpaste) on the bracket of the support base and hold the fixture in place up on your ceiling pressing firmly on the support side so the toothpaste marks your ceiling in the right spots (pictures attached). Toothpaste washes away clean and does no damage to your fixture or your ceiling (and smells nice).3) The anchors they give you to mount the support bracket are garbage (especially for the 6 light fixture). I'd recommend grabbing some stronger ones from your local hardware store. While you're there you might want to also pick up some washers because...4) The spacing from the mounting bracket to the holes on the base of the fixture might not line up vertically. Depending on your ceiling and variables in texture of your drywall, etc. you may need a couple washers behind the mounting bracket (pictured) to get the base to line up property. I bought two fixtures and I had to do this for one fixture and not the other.5) The cages that go over the lights can be a nightmare. First of all, again, there's no diagram on how they go together. I figured it out pretty quick but still... seriously, no literature?? I've attached some up-close pictures to try and help. The cages are in two pieces. The base part goes on first before the bulb (there's a pipe fitting that holds it in place). Then once the bulb is in place there's a round end cap that clips over the top. This is the b*#ch part. I assume some of you will actually just leave that part off all together. It's tricky enough getting the clips on and to make it look like it does in the picture the little clips need to fit snugly to the base cage (and all they wanna do is pop out!). I'm a bit OCD so I want it to look right. As I said before I bought two versions of this fixture. The 4-light version was tough. The 6-light version was damn near impossible. I wasted almost 2 hours on it. But they're the same cages on each fixture with no real reason why one should be tougher than the other. This leads me to believe it's just luck of the draw. If you do end up with one of these where the clips aren't fitting right, know that trying to bend the clips doesn't do much (and with this sort of part you could end up breaking it if you try to use tools to do it). Just shuffle the end caps from cage to cage trying different combinations. Even shuffle the clips (they do come off). Eventually I found enough combinations that fit and ended up fighting with the rest but got them to work. I even ended up cheating with one (picture included) where I put it slightly off to the side and tucked it under to hold it in place. Even in my moderately OCD world this was good enough for me.So, with the exceptions of no instructions and a difficult install these really are pretty awesome fixtures at an amazing value. They look great with LED Edison bulbs and have no problem working with a dimmer. I'd probably suggest the amber colored Edison bulbs. I got the clear 6W (60W equivalent) and there's plenty of light but I think the amber glass would compliment the vintage look. Vintage Edison bulb fixtures are all the rage right now and I thought this was a really cool take on a vintage fixture. I think some people may think this style is even a little over the top. Kinda like something you might see in a theme park. For me it was just the right amount of funk for my taste. Kinda steam punk-ish. But still somewhat subtle. So I dig it. And I hope you dig it too if you buy them and I hope these tips helped. Good luck! It's worth the struggle.P.S. I never did figure out with the little metal "A" shaped things were for...

Arrived with no instructions.

It’s difficult to review this because I won’t be able to install it. It arrived with absolutely no instructions. There is also no indication on the fixture that it is really UL listed. Photo shown is same as photo from Home Depot. Something seems fishy here.

Looks great in our old house.

Great fixture. Love it in our old house. We wanted it for the kitchen/eat-in area so we got bright white bulbs. Works great. Not hard to install, but it did not come with instructions.
