Life Saver!

As a system architect, I understand the importance of seamless multitasking across multiple computers and systems. Time is precious for any system architect, and if you spend a lot of time plugging and unplugging cables and running It's definitely not worth it to move your butt between multiple computers. My wife often frowns and says to me "Oh my God, look at your cables, they're a mess of spaghetti" and "Look at your desk, please clean up your cable jungle."Until I got this TESmart KVM Switch, it is a life saver. This KVM switch is a game-changer for anyone managing complex computing environments. It offers a host of benefits that have transformed the way I work, and I believe it can do the same for you:Effortless Multitasking: With the Dual Monitor HDMI KVM Switch, I can effortlessly switch between different computers with a simple keystroke. This has eliminated the need for multiple monitors and keyboards cluttering my workspace, making it not only more organized but more efficient.Increased Productivity: Time is precious for any system architect, and this KVM switch has saved me valuable seconds, if not minutes, each time I switch between systems. No longer do I have to physically switch cables or navigate complex software interfaces. This KVM switch offers rapid transitions, allowing me to focus on what truly matters - designing and managing systems.Enhanced Workstation Flexibility: Whether you're using Windows, Mac, or Linux, this KVM switch supports a wide range of operating systems, making it incredibly versatile for system architects working with diverse platforms, beacause I need to use different operating systems for various program tests.Dual Monitor Support: The dual monitor capability is a game-changer. I can now have two screens connected to each computer, offering a larger workspace for my multitasking needs. This is particularly valuable when I'm working on complex projects that require constant cross -referencing.Flawless 4K Video Quality: The HDMI support ensures impeccable 4K video quality, making it ideal for design work or situations where pixel-perfect clarity is paramount.Effortless Setup: Setting up the KVM switch is a breeze, and it's compatible with a wide array of USB peripherals, including printers and external hard drives.Reliable L/R output: Most kvm switches on Amazon don’t support a L/R output, but this one does, which is an excellent plus.Reliable Performance: The KVM switch has proven to be exceptionally reliable in my daily use. I've never experienced any lag, connectivity issues, or quality degradation, ensuring I can focus on my tasks without interruption. As a system architect with 6 years of work experience, I am still amazed by the zero delay when switching keyboard and mouse between multiple computers,I know that this needs to overcome many technical difficulties, such as synchronization and compatibility, but they did it.If you're in a profession where time and efficiency matter, don't miss out on the opportunity to supercharge your productivity and workflow with this fantastic device.

Not worth the price or the headache

First, I'm a computer tech and a software engineer. I've got my A+, Net+, Sec+ and a whole slew of others (computer tech) in addition to being a software engineer. So, my stance is coming from a user who does a LOT of computer stuff; not a new user who doesn't know the first thing about troubleshooting. So, I purchased 2 of these to handle a quad monitor setup. While these devices do what I need them to do; when you are using 2 devices; some of the features they advertise go out the window. Here are my issues:A. You cannot use mode 3 without issues; you can use mode 3 but it only works on half the devices (the devices that are plugged into the unit that have the keyboard/mouse); the other half (the second unit); you can swap them to different monitors but you can't actually provide input to them without the need to move your keyboard/mouse to the second device or simply by having a second keyboard/mouse in the other device (I haven't tried this yet but I'm assuming that's what I'd have to do).B. The keyboard/mouse port, while windows worked fine with this, linux, not so much; I can't use the keyboard/mouse input on the device (which allows me to use the scroll lock + scroll lock + 1/2/3/4); my keyboard/mouse just didn't pass through; so it's either move the inputs back and fourth between the usb slots or have a second keyboard/mouse hooked up into the other spots to swap back and fourth between machines. Well the secondary part of this is that the devices can lose sync (either randomly or because you tried to use mode 3) and I'm told I have to hit scroll lock + scroll lock + 1/2/3/4 to get these to sync back up again but you can only send those signals when the keyboard is in the keyboard slot, if you have it plugged into one of the other usb slots then the kvm won't see you pressing anything ... I can't do that every time I need to swap machines.C. if I shut down the KVM (using the power switch) and turn it back on; I can no longer see the monitors plugged in as they are; I can only seem some generic monitor which screws up the screen settings and available modes; I have to unplug my monitors and re-plug them back in (which when forces me to have to re-do my monitors as the OS removes them and updates the displays). So, if I have to make an adjustment and shut these off for some reason; I have to walk through every PC and unplug whichever monitors aren't doing what they should be doing; I've had to do this so many times I had to add cord identification numbers to the cords so I could figure out which one needed unplugging.D. The cords they provide you with are only like 3 feet in length; so unless you have a super tight close together setup; this doesn't work. I had to buy an additional almost $300 in cords because the ones provided weren't long enough to really do anything.E. You'd think with 2 devices that you could use the provided remote control to control the separate inputs (for mode switching). Nope; one remote control rules them all. But with the fact that mode 3 doesn't work on the secondary unit; this is kind of a moot point.I'll add more as I find issues. But; with these issues, these devices are not worth the money; I would cap these out at maybe $150 each; maybe $200. If they could conquer the things I mentioned above; it would make it more worth the price (minus the unwanted cables) ... but I'd have to buy a newer model for that (if they ever bother) and i'm highly unlikely to do so. They should remove the cables and give you an options (with cables or without cables) as 3 feet may or may not work for you; for me, they did not. I would have loved a cheaper option to leave the unnecessary cables behind as of now.--- Update as of 08/16/2024:I have had these things for awhile. Two major things have been occurring a lot that have just been driving me absolutely bonkers with this KVM.1. What I mentioned in the original review from C. This drives me crazy. I turn my monitors back on and one of the monitors was removed from the computer and the generic monitor (which doesn't support the same resolution) was added. Today, I had to plug/unplug my monitor over 20 times before it would finally pick up my real monitor; this drives me crazy having to do this everyday multiple times a day (and I've had to do it since I bought the damn thing, it seems to be the default way it works). (In linux, when you lose a monitor, a bunch of apps also close, so I have to restart apps too).2. If I walk away for more than a few minutes, my keyboard will just stop working. I have to change it from one computer to another computer then back again for my keyboard to resume working. I can't even unplug it and plug it back in to get it to start working, I have to change the damn source. This isn't nearly as annoying as #1, #1 would be like, if you mentioned this happens before purchase, it wouldn't get purchased kind of issue.Note, I am using 2 of the dual kvm switches combined to create a quad kvm switch (2 kvms linked to handle 4 monitors, 4 machines). Now the company has an actual quad monitor kvm (1 kvm to handle 4 monitors, 4 machines) it would likely knock out complaint A and E from my review but they want $800 for it ... it's likely that B and C are also going to be part of it and then the cost is likely as high as it is because of D (even though I wouldn't need a single cord from it).TESmart, if what I currently have from you guys is a testament to things, then I would still have the same annoying issues that I have now with it not identifying my monitor with a different unit. But if you want me to update my review, I would be willing to take the quad unit and test it and update my review here to reflect. But if it still has problem C, then it's not going to get a pretty review either.--- Update as of 10/20/2024:Over the last 2 days, I have had to unplug/plug in my monitors well over 100 times because of these KVMs. At this point, the only reason I am still using them is because I paid a lot of money for them and my setup is reliant upon them. Can you imagine working on something that is time sensitive and having this problem, having to get the KVMs to figure out what their monitors were before you can resume what you were doing? I have reached out to their tech support to see what they can do because this is becoming a problem.-- Update as of 10/22/2024:I got a response from the company. It is what it is. Only resolutions are to provide a backup power supply to ensure that there is constant power or use an EDID emulator so the computers don't get an incorrect monitor or resolution while the KVM is delivering the incorrect information. IMO, not a very good design if you need 3rd party utilities to make it work correctly. So, if I am understanding correctly, I would need an EDID emulator for each port on the computer side that has a monitor, so for this, since I am using a quad monitor + quad computer setup, that's 4 EDID emulator per machine * 4, so that's 16 EDID emulators I would need to prevent this KVM from causing screen problems on the machines. So, based off a quick search and without looking for my specific needs, it would be about an additional $232 to get the extra things to make this KVM to not cause problems when it briefly loses power.-- Update as of 03/30/2025:So, the power has flickered a few times and these stupid KVMS forget the monitors. The company claims that I just need to start the device, then the monitor, but no matter what combination I try to turn things on in, more than 75% of the time when I come away from a slight power loss (I do have a backup battery on the thing to help prevent trouble but it doesn't last forever), the stupid devices can't detect my correct monitor upon resuming. 2 days ago, I spent over 2 hours unplugging (monitors), plugging in (monitors), rebooting, etc, to try to get the stupid KVMs to correctly see my monitors. It doesn't matter if I reboot, it doesn't matter what I do, it's literally a crap shoot, its' about if I unplug it and plug it in this time, will it work, it doesn't, do it again. That's a sign of a piss poor product. Why haven't I ditched these pieces of crap yet? Because, I already paid for them, ditching them just increases my costs. When these devices work, they work great, but when they fail, they fail spectacularly.
