The Haunting of Shadow Hill House

I absolutely loved this book. I've really enjoyed Carolines other books too. If you love creepy old houses, ghost stories and a good haunting, you will love this. It has a good story line and is so interesting you are pulled in immediately. I liked the reference in it if the couple in one of her other books. Fantastic. Bring on the next one. A very enjoyable read! The first time I have read a book by this author and I always enjoy a scary story based around a haunted house but I would say this was more a story based around the supernatural experiences of a family who moves in to a new home that is actually an extremely old house.At times it is very sad as the base story surrounding the hauntings is tragic but it makes for an enjoyable and page turning read and would recommend it to anyone who likes a haunted house novel.I have given it 4 out of 5 stars simply because at times the mother (the story centres more on her point of view than the others) makes poor choices concerning her daughter and it for me was a little unbelievable given the circumstances but this is a personal point of view so please don't be put off by this.

I know this is a genre has been done many time before, however Caroline Clarke has written a very enjoyable ghost story. The atmosphere of this haunted house is really well done and the main characters are well written(although the husband and the priest seem to be a thin character wise). The story is a simple one of a family moving into a new very old house and one previous occupant hasn't "left" .The spirit attaches herself to the young girl of the family and won't let go.A really enjoyable read and the first of this authors books ive tried, will be tracking more down of her work on the strength of this one.

Over all not a bad book. A bit predictable like most books of this type of genre but the story line was good enough to hold my interest and the characters developed well through the story. There were a few bits that seemed to drag on a bit but other than that it's worth a read.

I love this kind of story.It was a quick and easy to follow tale with just the right amount of foreboding to keep you hooked.Normally I never try to finish a book in one sitting but I just could not put it down.If anyone were looking for book on spectral goings on to curl up with on a cold night in a snug chair I would recommend this one.

Enjoyed the story a shame that some of the characters names where getting a bit mixed up when reading had to keep going back to check

This was the best ever keep the books coming never enjoyed a book so much that I could not put it down
