Good quality
These are well made, exude quality and hold an edge well. Get some good stones and they’ll do you well.

Great chisels, not just for the price.
I am only a very amateur woodworker so my opinion is based on limited experience but I think that these are great value chisels that equal the quality of some more expensive brands. They sharpen up and hold an edge well.

Very good chisels for a reasonable price.
Very good set of starter chisels for any enthusiast and advanced woodworker, just make sure to check sides of a chisel blade in case they are extra sharp and treat with file or sanding paper.

Good steel but read potential deal breaker first
I bought these after happily using Narex mortice chisels which have oval handles with anti split ringed top for two years. Based on them thought I would buy these. These are much faster and easier to sharpen than the HSS Stanley FaxMax they're replacing. Stanley are good in their own way but not for cabinet making. Horses for courses! Not used in this context yet but can visualise these will be good for dovetailing work. Under the tapered bevel the square sides to the flat back are very narrow. Much like an old chisel I've used for this task in the past for this reason.I've used these on one project so far and enjoyed holding the wooden handles. Note the 6mm and 12mm have slightly smaller handles than the 20mm and 26mm.Quality control needs improving as on inspection the staining on a couple of handles are a bit patchy. I'm not that bothered but it's easy enough to sort out if you buy and are. If you're buying as a gift check them over first and think of re boxing as they're supplied in a cheap cardboard box. Also no chisel tip guards supplied.Potential deal breaker for some but I've read several reviews on the web about the brass plated furrules splitting. I've used Narex mortice chisels for quite a while now and not had any split. IF mine split I'll simply replace with some copper pipe I have. Instructional videos can be found about replacing a chisel furrule and after watching them I feel It's something I can do if needed. It's why I've rated them 4 stars.

I don't think you could get better chisels for the price
Quality to be expected of one of the world's best renowned chisel manufacturers. Honestly don't think you could get better ones for that price. The blades keep their edge nicely.

Good chisels, AWFUL handles
What a shame. Nice chisels, good quality, well finished metalwork let down by appallingly rubbish handles. This is the third time I’ve bought Narex chisels and the handles have got worse and worse. They try to produce a premium product for a decent price but then don’t finish it off properly “....wood waxed handles...” no they’re not. The handles are chunky wood that have been badly turned and hardly finished at all. They are covered with turning marks that haven’t been sanded off...score lines everywhere. It then looks as if they have been stained with a water based stain...it hasn’t soaked in very far ...but far enough to have lifted the grain. And as far as I can see, no wax on the handles at all. They could have been so good but the handles make them look cheap and nasty, and feel horrible and rough. Not what you want as a craftsman taking a pride in your tools and work.I’ve sanded the handles down with 240 and 400 grit paper.of course that immediately removed 50% of the stain...but at least it produced a smooth handle. Then two coats of wax polish. Now they feel great but look a bit sad...nice to use now though. So why can’t Narex finish the job properly? It wouldn’t cost them any more or take any more time and would give such a lift to their product. A real missed opportunity that seems to indicate poor standards and poor quality control, even if the metalwork looks good.I don’t suppose anyone from Narex reads this but if they do, please do something to improve the finish. I have plenty of good quality (Lie Nielsen, Veritas etc) tools so know what i’m talking about!!
