They light up pretty bright. One of mine feel down a couple days after install the tape is not adhesive enough to hold. I recommend rechargeable AA batteries. They take 3 each. But if you won't use them often regular batteries will get you many uses. You can also use them inside the car or anywhere else, the farther they are placed the image projects larger.
