These popped up as recommended for D type panel applications. They may work for some situations, but for me using them to attach off-brand XLR connectors, they weren't the best option.If I were to really tighten down, I would certainly pull the screw head through the connector hole. Also, attaching to a laser cut knockout panel, the nuts would actually pull through as well.M2.5 is a little to small.I found M3 to be the better size. There's a nice stainless kit M3 kit with washers and lock washers on here.There's nothing wrong with this product, just what it's recommended for.

Works fine, but slightly small for d-type sockets.

Make sure you have some precision tools. These are difficult to use otherwise….but not impossible.

These screws were just the ticket as I was making a new patch panel using female 1/4" TRS panel mount input jacks.

We needed these specialty panel screws for a project. Worked great!

These are exactly what they say. 8 mm is pretty short. One of the jacks I was mounting had a thicker plastic chassis and the screw was too short to hold it. If you're mounting anything thicker than around 3mm / ⅛ inch, look for longer screws.
