At that point I started to hear the sound come out and everything was fine. so if you come across that problem just ...
At first I thought these jacks were not working properly or were poorly manufactured . When I first put the plug into the jack it would not go in all the way . At that point no sound was coming through the headset and it was not working. but then I realized that the plug was not all the way inserted into the female receptacle. I literally had to press the jack up against the wall in order for it to snap into place. I inserted the plug from the headset into the female receptacle of the jack and then press the jack the other side of the jack up against a wall to snap the male plug into the female slot. At that point I started to hear the sound come out and everything was fine. so if you come across that problem just do what I said and you should be fine. Considering the low cost of these jacks a little bit of wiggle and elbow grease is a small compensation.

Pretty solid cable
This cable was great, for about 4 months. It was used to connect my phone to my car so that I could listen to my pandora stations while driving, which was a wonderful feature. The downside is that because it's on a wheel that extends the cord, it also retracts the cord, sometimes to a tension point. After a month or two the wheel no longer locked into positions that prevented the tension effect, I'm unsure if this was just wear and tear as I used it pretty much every day, or if it was a flawed product in itself. Eventually the tension from the wheel attempting to retract the cord, as it no longer had a locking point, broke one of the internal wires. I know that this is what happened because I've had headphones in the past that the wire broke and you end up having to spin the jack around to find a sweet spot where the audio actually feeds properly, otherwise you end up with mono sound, which is dreadfully poor audio quality. It was a great item while it lasted, however I would recommend going with a normal cord, rather than the extension device, that way you don't have to worry about any sort of tension from the cord being pulled too tightly.

Great Price, Okay Quality, Bad Shipping Time
Okay, I was able to buy this product to use in my car for only 1.80$ (free shipping)! I knew when buying that the quality probably wouldn't be great, and it's not bad. The Sound Quality is pretty good, but the cable itself is quite flimsy and feels like might break in the near future. But then again, at less than 2$, who really cares? However, the biggest gripe I had with the product was the delivery time. I ordered right after the New Year (which may have caused the delay, understandably) and the product didn't ship until early February, and then wasn't delivered for another 2 1/2 weeks. All that wait for such a little product (which I admittedly was greatly anticipating for some driving entertainment)? I was debating just going to Walmart/Target and spending 8$ on whatever Aux Cable they were selling (same quality).I would buy again at such a low price, but definitely from a different seller or something.

Really convenient but they wear out pretty quickly
I have used these retractable aux cables for years. I love them in the car and for travel. I have one in every purse! They do not last very long with daily use, however. Maybe 6-8 months. If only used infrequently, it would last a lot longer. After several months, the cord won't retract as well. You have start pulling it all the way out and reclicking to get it to retract. Also, the connectability starts to break down. After a few months of daily use, I find myself having to rotate and jiggle the connector to get a good stereo connection. After awhile, no matter what I do, I cannot get a connection. The cable is very thin and I think the wires inside just break down. These are also not kid proof. Any toddler who gets ahold of it with one hard pull would probably break the winding mechanism inside. This has happened to several of mine.

Another problem I saw a few people say is it going bad quickly. I'll update if it goes bad
This device seems to work perfectly, I'm using it to have one sound system on two computers. (That I don't use at the same time.) I noticed a review that said they were only getting a mono sound and I'm not getting that problem. Another problem I saw a few people say is it going bad quickly. I'll update if it goes bad.The only problem I have had so far is that I bought it on a whim, since its only a $1.5. After a while I wondered where it was and the estimated arrival date was a month from the purchase date. When it arrived it said it came out of Singapor, not that that matters to me. I just would have driven over to the local radio shack if I had known it would slowly sail across the Pacific to me.

Surprisingly reliable for the price
I purchased this for my then newly bought used car and after trying my dad's high quality cord in my car while I waited for it to be shipped I found it not working and I thought I wasted my money buying this one. If an expensive cord doesn't work in my new car, why would some cheap $2 one work?Well, it played my music quite well for about 15 months before it stopped working, which I am certainly not complaining about. Granted, the cord stopped locking when you pulled it after a few months (pull both sides at the same time btw), but that wasn't a big deal. Just purchased another one for the car to replace it. Why spend more money when a cheap thing like this will do the job just as well?

Cheap and Works excellent...
They are cheap and they WORK. I bought a pack of these to use on a 2 hour round trip flight. They actually worked as expected. I bought another set of a different type as backups but never had to pull them out. My wife and I watched a couple of episodes of Walking Dead and the sound quality was great. If you are worried about them not playing loud, this product is only as good as your earphones. My wife had a pair of $10 ear buds from Walmart Mart and her quality was decent. I was using Bose and the quality was excellent. We got her a pair from the airport on the return flight home and she had no problem with hearing the shows we watched over the airplanes engine and others on the flight. I would recommend and worst case scenario, they break and you're out of a few bucks.
