8QT Professional Grade Plantation Products Vermiculite

This bag is going to last forever! I used this to make my own starter mix and have had excellent results with growing my watermelon, pumpkin, tomato and lemon seeds!My recipe: Approx. A quarter pound spagnum moss, 1 brick of coco peat, 1 cup of vermiculite and 1.5 Tbs of garden lime (to neutralize acid levels of spagnum moss). I just mixed these all together and soaked the mixture until it was all damp before putting in the baskets.Some people use just the coco peat bricks and vermiculite, however the spagnum moss is cheaper.

I'm a repeat buyer of this vermiculite. Works very well to get my seeds growing. Clean and mixes very well. My seedlings tell me they love it.

Use for modeling landscape on my model train board. Easy to use. Paintable.

Works for all the things vermiculite is good for, but I'm confused about consistency. I've bought this same EXACT vermiculite three times now. The two times, it was the same... what I would estimate to be about medium coarseness. The last time, it was much finer. Is this normal?

I actually bought this product to put down in the bottom of one of my little cages I use for my crickets for my frogs. It keeps the smell down because if you have any type of amphibians, you know that you have to feed them crickets and worms and the smell of them can be awful. This product works well if you put it in the bottom of the container that they Reside in. I promise that it will keep the smell down almost 100%. I’ll say about 85%.

It's my opinion that anyone working with really any type of plants should keep vermiculite on hand. I use this as a constant source in all of my soil mixes. No matter the type of plant I always add this stuff. It also works well for cuttings and propagating. It's good for seed starting really just about any application this has a purpose. This along with perlite are the 2 absolute must have items I will never be without. I grow everything from all of my garden plants from seed to cuttings from my meyer lemon tree. I have grapefruit, oranges, strawberries, blueberries and many many more. There isn't much I dont grow. It's one of my absolute favorite and most fulfilling hobbies. If u take gardening seriously u should make this purchase. Hope this helps out anyone that enjoys growing like I do.
