We purchased this way back in May 13, 2017 and used it occasionally. A weld broke while my wife was using it just now. Knicked her thumb but could have been a lot worse. Lasted for a few years but what just happened was scary.

Do not buy! Bought this apple cutter to replace a pampered chef one that I used weekly for the past decade. This unit lasted roughly 3 weeks before one of the blades broke off and embedded itself in my thumb while cutting an apple. Fortunately no significant damage to my thumb but the blade assembly was left in the Apple and plastic housing completely detached. The fault in this product is not the plastic, that actually seems quite hardy. The blade assembly however is made up of 4 V shaped blades spot welded to a center ring. The welds are poorly done and one of them broke causing that V blade to detach, which caused the blade assembly to completely detach from the plastic housing (when it broke that is when one if the blades went into my thumb).

This is a large slicer and can slice hug honeycrisp or red delicious apples. But it is not that sharp. I have to bang the apple on the counter to get the slicer to go through.

It worked. Kind of. It never actually got through the whole apple --well, the apple: yes, the skin: not so much. It rusted after two uses and it wasn't that easy to clean. It bruised my apples better than it sliced them. Never again.

Ok. So it would generally be very difficult to give one of these a one-star review, but here's the thing: this one is NOT sharp. Yes, it is exactly as it appears in the picture and it seems to be reasonably well-made, but it is SO DULL. Getting it to cut an apple is a literal effort, when the point of this thing was to eliminate the effort required to cut an apple.

not real sharp, need to apply a dent bit of pressure but cuts an apple in seconds in nice even pieces.

I loved it.....until it broke while I was using it - flew into pieces. I had only had it about a month or so, and was just using it to cut a normal apple. All the blades snapped right out of the plastic halfway through the apple. I'm lucky I didn't get badly cut. So disappointing.

Ordered for my sister who was concerned that her apples were too big. this works well on small ones as well and more surfact to push against. there is a little left to cut but perhaps if I pushed on a cutting board, or something raised that only covered the core, it would cut all the way through. Highly satisfied
