This Listing is for our 16/0 commercial circle hook weighted shark rig (270# test, 7x7 49 strand construction bright stainless steel cable). Our unique weighted shark rigs use a heavy duty weighted swivel, rather than the traditional swivel. This extra weight gets your bait lower in the water column and also helps to get your bait away from the boat on very calm days. On days when your lines are crossing or the boat is spinning, put a weighted rig on your middle line (yes underneath the float) and it will sit a bit different and give you more space. By mixing in weighted rigs it allows us to run three shark lines even on the worst days, but as many as five (three unweighted, two weighted) on good days without crossed lines or tangles. Like our traditional shark rigs, a key feature to all Cardinal Tackle Shark Rigs is the protected connection. After double-crimping the hook and swivel, we cover it with a short length of heat shrink tubing. The covering: (1) prevents frayed ends of shark wire cutting up your monofilament in the event your lines do cross | (2) helps protect your hands when leadering or changing baits | (3) causes less damage to soft baits when you bury the hook | (4) cuts down on nasty pieces of old bait getting stuck when you store your rigs for your next awesome day of sharking. To summarize points 1-4, the connection covering prevents the shark wire from fraying near the crimps and stabbing many different things which ultimately eliminates various levels of frustration or pain to you, the fishermen.
