One of the three most influential books to my faith, from way back....
Read this as a child when I took it out of my church's library. Peter's sermons are woven into his bio by his wife, and although it is a dated story - it is also relevant today. The imagery of the physical body in the mother's womb having all the parts one needs in one's physical life and the spirit aspects of who we are replicated as needed in this life, but in a different way, gave me an understanding of why we are here, different than how anyone else has explained our journey. It still resonates universal truth and it does it with humor and humility.

60 years and it's still good
i read it when i was in high school. can't remember if before or after seeing the movie. Still a great story about a simple man with the insight needed in today's world.

Excellent read. Deep prospective.
Rated "4" due to age of book. Content is rated "5". Condition of the book was excellent considering its age "60" and that it is out of print for so long. There were no pages missing or damaged and only stained by aging. I enjoyed every page of Catherine Marshall's well written account of Peter Marshall's ministry. A ministry truly worthy of emulating. People are lined up to read my copy including my daughter, a minister's wife. Thank you.

Inspiring
One of my most important books I have read. I shared it with my father, who also cherished the book. I no longer have my father on this planet, but I can feel him again as I reread this book and remember how similar both men were as inspirations.

A Man Called Peter - Great Classic
This is a great classic book well worth reading. I bought this used. It was for my father who is reading many old, classic books now.

Scots-American preacher no doubt got them with his accent!
I have read only parts of this book so far. It's truly inspiring, and it's very interesting if you lived during the era in question, and even if you didn't. Also, the film by the same title is on Netflix (or was recently), and that's a good lead-in to the book. Note these actors in the film: Ann B. Davis as Peter Marshall's secretary, and Jean Peters as Catherine Marshall. Jean Peters was one of the leads in Three Coins in the Fountain.

Comfort through tragedy
A read from the past. Originally read this book 50+years ago. Bought it for a dear friend going through difficult health issues. This book is real and comforting.

Warmly recommended.
A classic book, it has stood the test of time, and its message is as powerful - and as readable - as when it was first published. Peter Marshall was a great man of God who died of a heart attack at a young age. The book reveals why his life, though short, was such a blessing to so many people. Warmly recommended.

An encouraging read
This life story of Peter Marshall, written by his wife, Catherine Marshall, is a very interesting and encouraging read. Peter Marshall was born in Scotland and followed the call of God to the United States. The humour and energy with which Peter Marshall lived his life as a Christian minister, and in particular his wonderfully creative and descriptive use of language in preaching and prayer, I found to be inspiring and challenging. He was a humble and straightforward Christian who could communicate in clear language the essence of his faith, and make it real to both the ordinary working man and to politicians in the United States Senate.

Great read.
Very inspiring and uplifting, a great read from cover to cover. It's just amazing the impact that seemingly ordinary people have when they give their lives to God.

The amazing story of one man's calling to the Christian ministry. From industrial Scotland to the heart of American government in Washington as Chaplain to the Senate.
