These are good enough snow chains if you find that there is more snow on the ground then any of the records since they started being tracked as it was for Boise this last winter. These will not beat out a four wheel drive truck, but if you find yourself in a situation where you must drive in unsafe conditions with a front wheel drive family car, then these will work. Like with all chains you are stuck at 20 to 30 max, and even then you should stay around 20. I saw a lot of metallic chains go by the wayside this year because the driver went too fast with them. After a little bit of driving, you should check them to make sure they are not too tight. Tires can expand a lot in the winter while driving and you want to make sure you did not put the chains on too tight, or when your tire expands more, the tire will take the chains off for you. This is a 4 star because the product does not indicate how tight is too tight, or even suggest that you should check the tire after a bit of driving on them. If you are not experienced chains, you will want to read up or ask a friend who is before using them. Always ask yourself if your life is worth driving in the conditions. In my case, the City/Ada County Highway District did not plow the side streets, so emergency vehicles were getting stuck responding to 911 calls. They are worth having for the peace of mind that if someone had a heart attack, you could get them to a point where authorities could get to them. If you're thinking of these for regular use, perhaps you should consider four wheel drive first.

Great buy don’t listen to the negative reviews
I was super skeptical about how these chains we’re going to perform based on some of the reviews. But being broke I bought them anyways and prayed for the best. These chains are fantastic. They were super easy to put on. It took me about half the time it normally would to put on real chains. I had no problem driving through the mountain pass that had been closed an hour earlier. I did drive pretty slow in comparison to people with all wheel drive. So really I think all these reviews were just written by people who were driving way too fast. After getting through the pass and taking them off I did have just a tiny bit of difficulty but if you bring along a flat head screwdriver just to kind a help get the prong open it was super easy. I was able to reinstall them and drive around my very steep hilled city. Great buy!

Love the idea of them
I like the idea of them and fact do not need to move car to put them on. Went up to Mt Rainier and tried them out. Everyone was curious about them. I put them on (I have a 2017 VW Alltrack awd) so put on all four tires.I think would be great for Deep Snow and Thick Ice. But after a mile of 25mph I stopped at took them off. Just to rough the gaps between the pieces is pretty bone jarring. I plan to keep them for more intense weather. But going to rely on my off road mode mostly. Might be better for trucks or just rear wheel drive

Total Fail!
Total Fail! I thought I would try these as an alternative to conventional chains. I received them the day before we had a light snow and ice event. I live on a steep hill and there is no getting out unless you have some kind of traction device. I strapped these on my car the night before the storm so I would be ready for work the next day. I was hoping they would be quicker to install than conventional chains but they were not. I could have easily put on my chains in the time it took to install all 6 of these units on my drive wheels. In the morning the 1/2 mile hill up to the main road was covered in snow and ice. I must have made it twenty feet up the hill before the first strap broke causing the unit to flop around in my wheel well and even hit my fender. I got out and removed the broken unit, and proceeded up the hill. One by one the straps continued to break, until I was left with one unit on one tire, and it broke before I got to the main road. Total garbage! This system might work if the straps were made of something durable like wire reinforced Kevlar, but these straps are cheap nylon like you would find on a gym bag.

Look great! I went out to show my wife how to put them on, so she's prepared for 'someday', because she already got stuck ...in her work parking lot.. I showed her how to put one on and while it was on I thought I'd try it out. On my snow packed icy driveway, uphill a little, the one chain, on one tire gripped and pushed the car back about a foot, the tire slipped until the chain contacted the driveway, and pushed the car back another foot, after four revolutions I thought I'd better stop before I really get stuck, (it was pushing me into 8-10 inches of snow on my lawn). I'm impressed! When and if it may be necessary, to get out of a snow/ice situation, I really doubt if I'll ever have to put on all six of these. Not after what only one had shown me. Thanks a lot for peace of mind having these 'just n case'

good for "just in case"
I bought theses for a one time road trip in the spring through Northern Canada. As it turned out- there was no snow on that trip! So i haven't had the chance to try them. They are great for limited use- They are light weight and easy to use. The con is that once they are on the tires they may not last a long time since they made of plastic.

I’m Minneapolis “ whether” I got stuck twice in the middle of 9 inches of snow if I wouldn’t have anti snow chains I would me be stuck all day, but it’s kind hard to drive with chains whether it snowing or snow I only use the ainti snow chains when I’m stuck and can’t get out beside that I don’t drive whith, because two times I drove with ainti chains they came off from the tires.

We shall soon see
Just got these and they seem ok. I do not have snow yet and so we shall soon see if/how they work. But they showed up as described and look easy enough to install. They come in a carrying case that is roomy enough to easily put them in and take them out. They, and the bag, are fairly compact so it looks like they will not be taking up too much space, etc.
