Q: Anyone tried with with thier portable synth rigs, like the Korg Volcas? How's the hum?

If you have hum with multiple sources by a ground loop isolator for $10. I used this to connect 2 computers and one would hum. I tried power conditioners and other but the $10 ground loop isolator worked. I put it on the second channel.

Sure can, has 5 inputs and 1 output with a mater slide, all inputs and outputs are 1/8 plugs so you would have to adapt down from 1/4 inch, its also stereo in and out, so keep this in mind when you get your adapters, if your running to speakers you will need an amp before

Q: I have purchased this mixer to use with microphones recorded on my computer. I have the mic into the mixer, and mixer into computer. Why no sound?

Additionally, you might need to power the mics somehow. Computer/consumer type mics usually have a battery or either require "plug-in power", which is around 5v if memory serves. This unit does not provide that. Pro grade mics use phantom power which is 48v, although many devices scrimp by with 12v, 18v, 36v, etc, since most pro mics can use anywhere from 11v to 48v. So the adapter mentioned in the previous answer might electrically make the connections if you have a pro grade 1/4" TRS mic, however, it's still not going to have any power.
