Definitely not for infants. At my house, the little kids (2, 3 & 5 yrs old) liked watching the big kids (9, 10, 12 yrs old) do the experiments. The big kids were able to do it without much help. The little kids wouldn't have been able to without lots of supervision.

Q: What are the instructions

The instructions are in a colorful booklet that comes in the box. At least, they were there 3-4 years ago when I bought this kit.

Q: What are the additional items that need to be bought for this kit? I want to get them ahead of time.

I wanted to do this too so that we could start doing experiments right away. So I opened the box before wrapping it for Christmas and got out the booklet. On page 3 is a list of extra materials. I had to buy borax and alum and also line up other household ingredients like glue and corn syrup. It’s also a good idea to familiarize yourself with the containers provided—for example, the “scoop,” the mixing cup, and the beaker.
