The Capybaras (Aldana Libros)

Love this story of a capybara family meeting a hen house. The translation is a little odd at times but the illustrations get the point across beautifully.

An unexpected friendship forms between chickens and capybaras during hunting season in this heartwarming tale about acceptance. The stunning artwork is similar to Bill Peet’s style; great line work and minimal color. There’s also a bit of underline darkness in THE CAPYBARAS that reminds me of Jon Klassen’s books.

A good book for children to read, it's easy enough and the art is very cute.

It’s always interesting to see how children interact in the world vs adults… and in this book the kids happen to be animals. Specifically about the introduction of new/“other” beings and compassion/acceptance. I read it to my son’s 3/4 grade Montessori class and they enjoyed it.They also enjoyed that when I read it to them, I wore capybara earrings, a capybara t-shirt, and brought in a stuffed capybara.(The capybara is the largest rodent in the world. It’s my favorite animal, and my children keep buying me capybara swag.)

I loved the message of this book - I purchased another copy for my grandchildren because I feel the message is relevant in today’s world.

I love, love, LOVE this book! I am an aspiring artist and illustrator myself and I absolutely ADORE Alfredo’s illustration style! I have wanted to get the hard copy of the book for myself for ages and it makes me very happy to have finally added it to my library! P.S. for reference I am 31 and this somehow adds to the joy of the experience :D I don’t know who may see this, but if you enjoyed this book and illustration style, you might also like the books by Simona Ciraolo — they are similarly cute with a good message ingrained within 📚
