From the Manufacturer Word Builder challenges children to build new words by twisting the rings in order to create different letter combinations. With the help of their caregivers, children learn how to use consonants and vowels to build words between two and six letters long. The rings are easily removed and rearranged, creating thousands of possibilities.

Twisterz Toys Word Builder wasn't very functional
My son is 6 yrs old and a very good reader. He loves trying to spell words and I thought this would be a creative way for him to have some fun. This toy doesn't seem very functional because we had to unscrew cap & take letters off then search through them all to find the letters necessary to spell words (which seems to make the twist part non-functional?) I wouldn't recommend spending the money :(

Not for struggling readers
Cute product, but kids don't enjoy it as I thought they might. It's probably more effective for kids who are already good readers.

Great toy/educational tool
Purchased this for a 5 year old who is beginning to read and spell...great item, especially for kids with some imagination/creativity...child (with some initial help) quickly realized that if you simply start with a consonant and then a vowel, suddenly lots of three and four letter words start appearing...child enjoyed rearranging rings to spell lots of different words.

Good toy
My grandson loves reading and has enjoyed playing with this. Nice to take in the car and it doesn't have any little parts to lose!

Durable But Ultimately Lame
This was one of those cases of buyer's remorse the moment I opened the item and took it out of its box. About the only good thing with this toy is that it's durable and well made. It feels solid overall, like it could take a lot of abuse. As to the fun and educational value? Not so great. We found that each ring contains only a few letters, and the rings are randomly arranged on the stick. Because of this, the rings form very few words, and the whole thing becomes rather annoying. ("Look, I found 'flibgep'! Wow!") Then you unscrew one of the sides, shuffle the rings, and begin again. If anything, this might be appropriate as a more advanced educational toy for competent readers trying to locate difficult-to-find words, but for those actually learning to read, I think it's a bit frustrating and useless. After one day, it has become yet another toy in the vast sea of them sitting unused in my kids' room. Sad. The only positive: I purchased it with a 50%-off coupon at the bookstore. Yay.

Not the best of the Twisterz Toys but still fun
Early spellers will enjoy the Word Builder Twisterz. By spinning the rings on the Twisterz Toys wand, kids can spell a variety of words using the letters found on the rings. Like with the Alphabet Matcher Twisterz, the rings can easily be removed and changed allowing your child to spell many more words. This particular Twisterz is limited to the letters on the rings and the order in which the rings are put on the wand, so the Word Builder Twisterz Toy can really challenge your child to create some unique words.I received this toy complimentary in exchange for an honest review but the opinion stated here is all mine.

Fun and engaging!
I love Word Builder as a creative challenge, and as a fun game to play with another child or adult. It's solid, fun to twist and feels good in the hands. With older kids we time ourselves to see who can make the longest word within a certain time frame, say, 5 minutes. Then we mix the rings up and try again, each time varying the length of time. With older kids and adults, setting a time limit and seeing who can build the longest word adds excitement and challenge. You can easily create many three letter words, and the fun comes in when you can build the five or six letter words. It's mentally engaging, so you can play for a long time with a child without either of you becoming bored.I don't have experience using Word Builder with younger kids, but even very young kids should be able to make two or three letter words. A family friend who is a First Grade teacher brought Word Builder to her class and it was a big hit. The kids loved it!

Twisterz Word Builder
As a public school teacher in California, I introduced the Word Builder to my second language students to work on their phonemic awareness skills by building simple three letter CVC words. The toy was well made, sturdy to hold up to a class of 24 and easy for the children to manuever. The children have become so proud of their spelling expertise, that their Enlish only speaking classmates are getting into the action and building up to six letter words. There is even a slight "competition" as to whom can make up the most words in a given period of time! With good behavior and work completed, my class earns "Fun Friday" choice time on Friday afternoons. Work Builder is quickly becoming a much sought after toy in the classroom during this time in addition to reading workshop time! I highly recommend Word Builder to primary grade teachers and parents of young children to help boost their child's phonics skills.
