Lonely Planet Cruise Ports European Rivers

Bought to cover the places we will stop at on a cruise. Not much information on each place.

Was looking for information re Grand European river cruise stops.This guide has ports on many of the rivers in Europe - so by necesity there is not a ton of detail on all of the ports. Book was helpful as a starting point, but would be most useful in deciding about which river to cruise/ports or towns to visit vs more detailed planning

Very disappointed with this book. I’m cruising from Amsterdam to Budapest and was very surprised to find e.g. no mention of Amsterdam or things to do there, which is strange as many river cruises seem to start or finish there. Very few ports are mentioned along the route and the maps don’t clearly show the cruise route for the section under discussion. Would not recommend.

Great book

I bought this book because I was going on a European cruise through a number of countries, and did not want to buy a guide book for each country. Usually I am very impressed with Lonely Planet. This book has seriously undermined my confidence in them. Very little on any port, and absolutely nothing on most of the ones we visited on our cruise, not even the larger ones. I would not recommend.
