Housing Issues
If you're using a Pi board for a media centre setup, or even some retro gaming it's a really nice way to get some physical tactile means of presenting content to the Pi and have it do things for you. However, the proximity of the cards needs to be pretty close to the reader. Metal cases won't allow reading if you're trying to present over the top of them, but if you want to create a slot to insert the card you could get away with it easier.A nice board that interfaces quite nicely directly with the pi, and saves you having to use a USB reader on the side. Something I've done a few times already, as those are a bit hit and miss when it comes to what USB reader hardware you actually get.Keep in mind that this is proximity based RFID with the somewhat more expensive 125KHz cards, so not the type you'd use with say Amiibos, but it does mean you can get pre-programmed serialised cards quite easily.Overall, it's a nice HAT for RFID.

Would be good for a door lock system
Nice piece of kit, easy to set up but can be a little inconsistent when it scans tags. Not fit for my project unfortunatly as it doesnt have place detection
