Works with PSP 3000

My newest television set has inputs for Composite cables and HDMI cables, but no native way to plug in Component cables. I have a wire to plug a PSP into a TV to output the display to the television screen, but as it's a YPbPr cable, it was going to need a converter to work properly with this new TV. At first I tried ordering a different converter, which was more of a box. The one I tried using first did not work for me. This one, however, gets the job done just fine.The converter comes with a USB wire for power, a plug to insert the USB wire into a power outlet, and even an HDMI cable, which is rather nice. I tested the included supplies and all of them were in working order. You can plug the device into the TV and a power outlet and it will work as intended. I already had my own HDMI cable ready for the adapter, and I wanted to plug the USB power wire directly into a surge protector I own with slots to power USB, that way I didn't need to use up a regular outlet. I used my own wire to plug this adapter into an HDMI switcher I own (one of those ones where you can insert multiple HDMI cords into one TV slot) and it works splendidly with my setup.This adapter isn't specific to the PSP, and should in theory work with any component cables. But since I wanted to use a PSP for myself and I had a hard time finding reviews online which mentioned it specifically--and since the first one I tried didn't work despite also being advertised as for PSP--I wanted to leave my own review in case it helps anyone.There is an on/off switch on the device which will need to be in the "on" position for the device to work. When it is receiving power, you can see a little green light inside of the device by looking through slots on one side. This will help you to troubleshoot your adapter if you have any problems setting it up, but it isn't intrusive or noticeable at all otherwise, which I'm sure some people will like.This converter also doesn't do much to upscale the picture for you. If you've used the component cable for a PSP before, even when the menu is full-screen, games might typically run with a black border around the screen. The "zoom" display option on my television helps to mitigate this. There is still a black outline, but it's much better. I've heard of adapters which are specifically designed to fill your screen with the PSP game image, but this one is a small fraction of the cost. If you're a casual player and you just want your game to look nice, this is a great option, in my opinion. The colors, sound, etc. all seem great to me with no hiccups, and if there's any latency or lag then it wasn't noticeable to me. Just make sure that if you're using a PSP like me that you navigate to Settings -> Connected Display Settings -> Switch Video Output whenever you'd like to use it.Make no mistake, this is a relatively cheap, unbranded product, and as with anything, you get what you pay for. But that said, I think it's a great value for the $20 price tag and it comes with a nice little box and instructions and all the wires you need, so it's more serviceable than the cheapest options on the market. If it sounds to you like it'd fit your needs, I'd say go for it. 5 stars from me. Does what I need it to do, works as expected, zero problems, so I'm happy.

Impressive product

There are a bunch of these for sale on Amazon, most are cheaper than this one. But I bought this LVY converter because it outputs S-video, something you don't usually find. My old-school receiver has a whole slew of S-video inputs, and they work well, about as good as analog video gets. This LVY HDMI converter outputs stereo audio through the red and white phono plugs, and composite video through the yellow phono plug. It also outputs video through the S-video connector, which I find is marginally better than the composite video. I was impressed with how quickly I received this converter, how well boxed it was, and the written material that was included. I also appreciated receiving an HDMI cord and a pretty decent power supply with separate power supply cord. Once hooked up to my blueray player, the converter operated flawlessly, both sound and picture were first rate. I definitely recommend this to anyone who has held on to their legacy components and needs a quality converter to connect them, in particular those who have S-video connections available.

Acceptable for the Money

The colors are off and the audio is out of sync, but this was a cheap way to interface an old standard definition video switch and camera system at my church with a laptop for livestreaming. Acceptable of budget is thedeciding factor. Audio and video show up as separate devices to the computer, which is why they arent in sync. Some video capture/streaming software may be able to correct the audio sync issue.

Item works perfectly, Windows 10/fix aspect ratio/processor settings will need changing.

At first if I changed the output resolution to anything except 640x480 the image was distorted. Even if I set the resolution to 800x600 or 1024x768 (4:3 ratio) there were black bars on the left and right of the picture, even on my 4:3 ratio monitor, and going into my VCR. I noticed that even if you change your resolution settings, this was only changing what windows 10 calls "Desktop resolution". The "Active signal resolution" would always stay at 1920x1080, (a 16:9 ratio resolution) and so the output was always set-up for 16:9 resolution displays. After doing some research online I found out you have to change the "active signal resolution" in your processor's control panel to be a resolution that is a 4:3 ratio, and then you can use any resolution that is 4:3 without the squashed picture, and black bars on the side. In my situation I am using it to output video from a Windows 10 PC to a Hi8 VCR and using the S-video attachment. The video quality of the s-video is a bit better than the standard AV cables, especially when it comes to color bleeding and sharpness. Defiantly recommended.

widescreen is squeezed to fit 4:3 TVs

works ok, but 16:9 input is squeezed into a 4:3 screen (I am going to an older TV). No option for Letterbox to keep accurate dimensions.

Brings old tech back to life...and kills new tech :'{

Brought my old projector back to life! It is what is says it is. Make sure to have it on the right settings and it works perfectly. It won't give you better quality picture than what this type of connection always has been. You're delving into ancient tech, so don't expect 4k. Still as good as DVD quality. Hooked it up to my cast and I'm very happy!Edit as of 7/27/2020 after owning for 6 months...Fried my computers graphics driver tho I wasn't positive until I then fried a Google chromecast later. Very sad and do not suggest you use this if you intend to use it more than a few times in a few months.
