Desolv is just GREAT! for home owner cleaning the inside unit of a ductless mini split A/C system.
Two plus weeks of research and I chose Desolv to be my solvent of choice for cleaning the inside unit of my ductless mini split aircon system. I'm pretty sure I made the right choice.Rectorseal, which markets and distributes the product and can be found at [...] . Their tech support line is fantastic is answering any and all questions one might have about the product as well as the accompanying kit. I didn't go with the kit. I got the Desolv for the solvent but went with a different wash bag from AirConCare, also available here on Amazon. The Desolv was applied as per the easy to follow instructions and was rinsed. I used distilled water and not regular tap water. Don't need any sort of calcium build up on my fins or any other mineral build up. The distilled water eliminates that concern. The Desolv was odorless, but it's clearly a potent chemical solvent so treat it as such.My 4 year old off brand ductless mini split was working fine before I did this cleaning, but I am convinced it's working even better after this first cleaning. If the black as night bio slime and other crud rinsing into the wash bag is an indicator of what was inside and on the coils I most certainly should have done this sooner! I went full strength as in 100% solvent, but you can dilute if you so desire and as per RectorSeal who make the stuff. My next cleaning I do believe I'll go 50%; and after that 20% solvent mixed with, again, distilled water. Tap water is going to leave calcium and other mineral deposits on those precious cooling fins. The product shipped through Amazon came amazingly quickly; the company making the sale on Amazon was easy to work with and buying from them saved me almost 50% of what an HVAC supply house was wanting to charge. Don't be afraid to clean the inside unit of your own ductless mini split. If I can do it, you can do it. The HVAC outfits around here don't really want to understand the mini split and most certainly don't want to service a non name branded unit. I purchased my system via on line shopping and saved $5000+ compared to buying a fancy name. The issue is being able to find an independent HVAC individual who will do the install and also support in the case of repairs. It has to do with life in Midwest USA: By the time a new idea makes its way through the dust and mud and what all else, it's an old idea. *shrug*Desolv applied easily; tech support from RectorSeal who markets the product to HVAC distributors was easy to get and friendly as all get out. I'm into the 4th week following cleaning and I'm still at two thumbs up. Good price from the seller, too as purchase price included shipping. I'm not a "prime" member, so I have to be concerned about stuff like that. Bottom line: The stuff works and is very easy to spray on using a garden spray pump. Don't pay a HVAC company $150 for a service call!! Do it yourself and save!! Plus....at least in this part of the USA, the HVAC "pro" is just going to spray a foaming solvent onto the coils; won't even rinse that off stating the "...system will do it as it runs.....the moisture build up condensation from the coils will wash it off.....". Hogwash: That method does not clean the barrel fan which is typically caked with dust and grime. If this old guy can do it, so can you.

WOW! Did not expect is to work as well as it did!!
This stuff is incredible!! No messy foam and does a phenomenal job of dissolving gunk. The split AC airflow is vastly improved. If you're not comfortable taking the cover off the inside part of the split AC, then this product is not for you. To use this effectively you need to be able to spray it on the squirrel fan and the coils. When spraying I used a hand held pump sprayer with a dense spray pattern for the coils and the squirrel fan. Afterwards, I rinsed with a hose and can not describe the amount of gunk that was washed away. I built a catch pan for all the water and gunk using a storage bin with a 1/2" bulkhead adapter with a hose going to a 5 gallon bucket.
