WOW! This Blank is Outstanding!
This being my first knife building project, I wasn't really sure where to get blanks to get me started. I checked around on the web, but decided to look on Amazon. I am glad I did!Not really knowing what to expect, I unpacked this Damascus blank and was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful blade that far exceeded my expectations. Knowing just a little about metallurgy (as a mechanic and machinist), I was aware of pseudo-Damascus steel products that are made to look like the real thing by chemical etching, or some such process.These Damascus blanks are definitely NOT the "painted-on" variety! Close examination reveals the fine grained patterns, and even texture of the folds. You can trace the layered patterns through the cross section of the blank as you view the blade face, across the spine, and through the hilt.The price was perfect for my first attempt at this. I just hope that my finished product is worthy of such a wonderful starting point with this beautiful blank.

Surprise Addition
I was happily surprised that brass pin material was sent with this blade. First time I have seen that. You can never tell ahead of time if the mounting holes will be metric or not. Not the first blade from this vendor, but the first time mounting material was provided. If it is a new trend, I am all for it. I am reluctant to get blades made in Pakistan, but the blades are looking better.
