Hastings TF131 Transmission Filter

This was for a 2002 Chev. Cavalier CNG that we recently purchased. For our cars, about every two years or 30,000 miles I change the tranny filter, putting the old ATF back in. Then I take the car to Lube Doc and have them do a complete ATF flush. Finally, I add Prolong ATF conditioner. This practice has really helped our automatic transmissions last. Total cost is about $110 if you do as much as you can yourself.This filter kit was about the price I thought it would be. We didn't have any leaks when we torqued the pan gasket to specs which I would recommend--not as tight as you might think. You'll need an inch pound 3/8" torque wrench. The filter was a pain as it seemed as if each fastener was a different length. I recommend you trace the new filter with a sharpie onto a piece of cardboard and poke holes in the cardboard to place each fastener for the filter as they're removed, so they go back in the exact same order and location. We cleaned the pan and magnets really well before putting the pan back on with the new gasket. The gasket is nice material with holes slightly smaller than the bolts so it holds the bolts while you thread them in by hand to avoid cross threading.

but this one got the job done, and really it is only a filter and once you get it they all look alike, so if you are short on cash like I was and need a filter buy this one it works fine, the only reason I gave it 4 stars was that I really wanted a more expensive one but this one is working fine and I have had no problems with it

While the item is fine, it is just a screen and you can easily clean the one already in your transmission instead of buying a new one.

This works great for my car. No issues whatsoever.
