After BitePharmacist Preferred Insect Bite Treatment, 0.5-ounce (4 pack), Multi (0006-1030)

I first used this during a trip to Mt. Lassen National Park in early spring, when the mosquitoes were out in force and they nearly sucked me dry. I thought that I would be safe with wool long underwear and double-layered hiking pants. I was mistaken. Those little suckers drilled right through and I was covered by dozens, if not hundreds, of bites. I itched like crazy even after washing and treating the bites first with alcohol and then with witch hazel. I then used After Bite and the itchiness went away as if by magic. Truly amazing stuff. I understand that the active ingredient is just ammonia... Whatever, it worked so well I put a full tube of this stuff in every first aid kit and emergency kit I have.The tube is about the diameter of a lib balm and about 1.5 times as long. Unscrew the cap and there is an applicator pad that looks a little like a big white eraser. Just rub that on the bite and presto! No more itch. I believe you can apply as needed, but I only needed one application per bite. I haven't used a full tube yet, but it seems like it would last a good long while; you can hear the liquid inside if you shake it and the applicator allows only a small amount to cover your bite as you rub it on.If you are ever out in the woods and even remotely likely to be bitten or stung by an insect, have one of these with you. I now consider this an essential addition to my camping and first aid kit. Five stars-plus!

Quick shipping, fine packaging and the product really works. We have lots of mosquito's where I live - large backyard with many, many flowers and stray cats which help "fertilize the soil." Going outside during mosquito season for 5 minutes can result in 5 bites, many multiple hits. Mosquitos love me intensely.The key to best use of "After Bite" is to apply it as soon as possible after the winged Dracula attack. In application, what I do for best results is to coat the area with the ammonia bicarbonate solution and continue for 2-3 minutes pressing the soft application tip directly on the center of the bite. This continued pressure on the center of the bite site - I believe - does a better job getting the After Bite solution through the skin and into the inflamed area. The bite often just goes away. In some cases the inflammation will re-appear from several hours to a day later with lessened intensity. Re-apply the After Bite. I also believe that there may be an actual chemical reaction between the After Bite ammonia bicarbonate solution and the blood thinner chemical that the mosquito injects into the skin to more easily suck out the blood.

Helps take the itch away after mosquito bites. I used to scratch my skin, sometimes to the point of accidentally breaking the skin. Now I rub this over the welts and the relief is immediate, taking my mind off the itching.

I really like using this afterbite. I am unfortunately a mosquito & flea magnet. If you scratch your bite and apply this afterwards, it'll really sting. Sometimes I will apply after I scratch. Stinging is preferred over itching. It's better than using alcohol.

After Bite is a great product to have around the house and in my first Aid Kit, I have used it for man years. It does have a ammonia scent but it works fast at dulling the sting or bite and helps bring the swelling down. This product was a 4 pack special and is a great value for the money, I'm glad Amazon.com makes this product available, sometimes a have a hard time finding this particular roll on tube in the supermarket, I'm very happy with my purchase and I will buy it again.

I have used this product for many years (although I have never tried to purchase it online). It is very effective against mosquito bites when used early and often, and if you have a strong allergic reaction to mosquitoes it should be an indispensable part of your outdoor equipment!Unlike most other insect bite products, this does not just relieve symptoms. It actually neutralizes the mosquito venom (the venom is acidic, and the ammonia in After Bite is a base). If you can get to the bite quickly, nothing works better! However, the point of it is to prevent an allergic reaction from happening; I don't think it relieves an allergic reaction that has already happened. So you will probably want to supplement it with antihistamines, etc.

Works OK but it seems on years past the relief was quicker and lasted longer.

After Bite is the best. We live in a rural area and spend a lot of time outdoors. After Bite is the only thing we found that takes care of a simple mosquito bite, to a fire ant bite, and everything in between. Fire ants are a huge problem where we are and when you get bit/stung by one of them the misery lasts over a week. With After Bite, it makes it tolerable.
