Universo Positivo was initiated by Ethnicraft and designers duo Jan & Lara in September 2013. The idea was to launch a fresh, playful and dynamic collection , bringing liveliness to the interior. Keeping a coherent narrative of the Ethnicraft identity, the collection was created to complement the Ethnicraft teak range well, both in style and color. Universo Positivo uses solid oak and vibrantly colored lacquered metal to give life to smaller furniture such as stools, shelves, lighting, and table-top accessories. Suited for both home and office use, every piece of the 35-items collection is created with a sense of aesthetics, simplicity and a coherent approach of lifestyle. After working in Paris for different design studios, Thomas Merlin started his own design studio in 2011. He approaches his projects with simplicity and accuracy. He questions the way things are constructed and seeks methods to make them more environmentally friendly . The balance between design and functionality is kept by using natural materials which results in a modern and minimalist look. Inspired by craftsmen who bring life to the materials, the studio makes his prototypes in collaboration with them which results in a fantastic collection.
