Best sound quality, light-weight, fits left or right ear, easy to use
The first bluetooth headset I ever bought to pair with a cell phone was the Cardo Systems SCALA 500 Bluetooth Headset. It was simple to pair, could be worn left or right ear, had excellent audio quality, and supreme wind-noise cancelling. One night when I used valet parking, upon getting into my car I noticed my Cardo Systems SCALA 500 Bluetooth Headset was missing. Next day I tried to buy another Cardo, yet could not locate one in my area. So, I tried on several Jabra models, all of which I found uncomfortable to wear. Then I tried a few others and bought the Plantronics Voyager Pro.The Plantronics Voyager Pro is unattractive and after a short while begins to feel heavy on the ear. Plus, I could feel heat generate from the big battery/transmitter pack ... which made me nervous about having that so close to my brain. SO, I just stopped wearing it.For a couple of years I either used a wired headset or speakerphone setting or just put my phone to my head if I was in an environment where it was difficult to communicate using the speakerphone.Recognizing that I really do need a new headset for my smartphone, I searched Amazon for the hard to find Cardo Systems SCALA 500 Bluetooth Headset and located a new one. Hooray! What I learned in searching for it is that Cardo markets headsets to the motorcycle racing crowd. No wonder the device reduces ambient noise better than any other headset I have tried and others use.

Does not work well
I used this bluetooth for 2 different calls. The 1st caller did not mind the headset, but the second one kept complaining that they could not hear me. They kept asking what was wrong and I did not think that it was my headset. I had spoken to this person using my Logitech Freedom and I never heard any complaints. After the call, I tried calling my answering machine and to my amazement, there was a lot of static in the message. The phone was never more than 3-4 feet from me when I made the call. I also tried calling the machine while driving on the freeway. The voice quality was pretty bad. I did return the headset after this experience. I so wanted to like the unit, but it really did not perform. The headset was not the most comfortable thing to wear either. My V3 has never had any problems in the past with BT headsets.I replaced this headset with the Plantronics 510. What a difference between the two. I tried the same tests with the Plantronics and my voice sounded clear and no static when I called my machine. I give that headest 5 stars and this the Scala 500 - 1.Take my advice and spend a little more money and get the Plantronics.

I like the Scala 500 BT Headset from Cardo!
This is available at a very good price on amazon, and is working quite well for me, with my Palm TREO 650. The TREO had no problem recognizing the BT headset and "pairing" up, and the headset fits nicely on my ear, comfortable and light. You could easily forget you're wearing it, and the little guy is packed with useful features. Overall sound quality, in and out, seems pretty darned good, especially considering the wireless advantage at your desk, in the car, etc.Cardo has provided very good service by phone, for questions, installation assistance, etc. -- remarkably good by today's standards. So give this a try -- the price/value ratio seems very, very good to me, particularly factoring in the very good support from the company.David in Telluride, COP.S. I like my TREO 650 too, despite the mixed reviews on amazon.com. For both devices, I found these reviews very, very helpful, for both pros and cons, during the process of researching and buying these items.

Amazingly durable !!!
Okay- I have to admit I knew very little when I purchased this little gadget as a bluetooth wireless headset - but I think I was lucky in my purchase! This device was effortless to set up. Essentially I looked at the setup card, charged it up and pushed the 'on' button. It was recognized instantly and the sound quality has been phenomenal. I haven't found the headset truly uncomfortable, though after about 4 hours - I am ready to take it off. I recently accidentally 'washed' my headset in a shirt pocket ... well other than being a little 'cleaner' it didn't change it at all. Still excellent sound quality and it works fine - that is pretty amazing!! The only real 'bad part' is getting it out of it's nifty little holder mechanism - I have had difficulty with this and ended up about pulling the 'earpiece' off - but managed to get it back together. So, even with considerable abuse, it remains a solid little unit! I can't complain.

May be it works, BUT NOT for me...
Influenced by all those nice reviews and the price I decided to get me one of those. Pairing with my Samsung SGH-D600 was a breaze, I adjusted the earhook to fit perfectly on my ear (no wabling). The design is nice and compact. What comes to performance, there I was disappointed.I could hear people on the other side without any problems, the sound is pretty good, but people could not hear me, they heard pieces of what I was saying. It was practically impossible to have a conversation because people kept asking me to repeat myself.Sometimes it dropped connection with my phone, which is really inconvinient when driving.May be I had a faulty unit or it was not compatible with my phone, which I doubt, but I would not get this headset again. Thanks for reading.
