Brought healing and sanity to my family
I rarely share personal issues relating to my family life with large audiences, but there is no way to make justice to this book without getting personal. My 4-year old (first and only child) started talking about her other family when she was still in diapers, basically as soon as she could express thoughts cohesively. We do not come from a tradition that contemplates any re-birthing theories, so we were quite weirded out by these remarks. We literally did not know what to say and played it down, thinking it was just a phase. This strategy did not work. She continued to bring this family up (especially her little brother) over and over again. I would see her fall into small trances with her eyes piercing into the space around her and I would ask what she was thinking, and the answer was always her brother. In the middle of playing, she would drop whatever she was doing and run to the door because her brother might be coming home. She would literally want to open and stand outside to wait for him. This is strange to say but it broke my heart. These guys were so real to her, I did not know how to respond. Things got worse when she started having daily potty accidents at school (lots and lots of them). It's like she refused to release until it was too late. We tried everything under the sun but nothing helped with this potty challenge. Also, we and the teacher noticed a general nervousness going through her system overall but could not quite pin down why she was feeling like that. Don't get me wrong, she's always been undeniably bright and joyful but we could tell she was carrying a load of anxiety within her. Maybe just her personality? That's what we decided to believe. Then, we came across one of Carol Bowman's lectures posted online and wow, that changed our understanding of things. It opened our mind and heart to the possibility, but still I wasn't ready to embrace the fact that my child might have been a child before her time with us, that she might have gone through the processes of finishing one life and starting this one. It was too much for me. I then email Carol - yes, I did - and I described the issues. She advised to read this book, and all that we needed to to help our child was there. I did purchase it (and the second one she wrote, as well) and read it promptly! She was right... all the guidance I needed was there. The next time my daughter talked about her little brother, one afternoon while we were folding laundry, I was ready to hear her out. Not just that, for the first time I let her know that I believed her and that what she was telling me was true. I also let her know that this is a new life adventure, a new experience altogether, and she is in a brand new, wonderful body. She looked at me, with her bright green and golden eyes and she reaffirmed what I told her with stupor and happiness. After this conversation, something must have permanently changed within her, because it' s a little over a month now and I am happy to report she has stopped having potty accidents! The pre-school teachers also told us they have observed a new sense of peace in her. I truly believe that acknowledging the validity of her experience and letting her know that she's now living a new experience in a new bodily format has helped her tremendously. She still longs for her little brother and maybe there is more work to be done in that department, but now I feel I have the tools and the courage to get to it. Thank you, Carol! This book gave us the guidance that no pediatrician, psychologist, or medical care provider could have given us. Forever changed, a loving mom

Anti-Catholic nonsense
A very anti Catholic book. The basic premise is believe in reincarnation and your actions throughout life are acceptable. If you are anti social in your behavior it can be corrected in the next life. This belief allows justification only to yourself. Much misinterpretation of Jesus statements. E.g. When Jesus cured the blind man his disciples asked Him if it was the man's sins or some other's sins. Jesus replied neither. The author takes this as Jesus saying the man committed sins in a past life. NOT! Jesus is saying the blind man was there for another reason and that is to be cured by Christ so a lesson could be taught. The author also state Constantine was the reason reincarnation was rejected by the Church and he was a controlling leader of the early roman empire and church. However, she fails to state that Constantine allowed religious freedom at the Nicea summit in325. No emperor had ever done that before. Not that dictatorial I guess. She cites the Cathars and the Church's crusade against them because they believed in reincarnation. But the Cathari also challenged the Church by stating they were the only true Christians. Very one sided in her history citations. She brings up the Pollack twins f of England,1957, as a great example of reincarnation but when you read about the twins elsewhere it's very questionable. The doctor who did the research had only second hand anecdotal evidence. The Catholic Church tells its followers to avoid delving into the preternatural. That is because the forces of evil that exist are too powerful for most of us to combat alone. And calling for these 'past lives' is a way to introduce evil into your life. Read 'Hostage to the Devil' if you don't think evil spirits roam the earth. Sad how this book turned into an anti Catholic statement. But it was also a statement against organized religion in general. No stars and don't waste your time reading this book.

A fascinating, easy-to-read book about an important subject
This was the Rhine Research Center Book Club's September book, and we all reported being engrossed with it. It spawned so much discussion. I found it difficult to put down.I asked some co-workers what they'd do if their children ever spontaneously brought up past lives, and they all agreed they'd freak out. This book gives parents (and grandparents, etc.) instructions on how to discuss such with children in a way that won't disturb them. The book points out that past-life regressions can quickly (and drug-lessly) cure many things, from phobias to addictions. The author points out that this kind of treatment is common in Europe. She also chronicles the many studies that have been done in past-life research, and in the past lives of children in particular. Glad to see I've already read a lot of it, but now she suggests that we study the Kaballah and Tibetan Book of the Dead (non-scientific but still good supplementary reading), so I now have books related to same in my TBR pile. This is a fascinating subject, done in an extremely readable style by a woman whose own experiences prompted her to become a well-known expert in the area. Also, the text is helpful for parents (and etc.) in preparing them to deal with odd questions their young children might raise.

Great book of its kind
At last a book that is not interested in data and statistics (though it has plenty) but is more interested in the usefulness of the phenomena whether it is 'real' or not. Healing is at the forefront of this book and it has already helped me help others to have happier lives. Most importantly, the children AND the adults have benefitted. Grateful!

First rate book, for anyone who is remotely curious about the subject.
Reading it now, can hardly put it down. If you have ever wondered, it is perfectly logical to have phobias caused by previous lives. So far this is very well written, and not a difficult read. I have no doubt about reincarnation, but have so far found little which is specifically about children. So far an excellent book, with references to others.

New Passion
I wanted to pursue my passion for understanding past lives, and this provided the perfect opportunity. I am now advising other people to make this same purchase for the future. It was an amazing find, and I will be following it through with others ... thank you.

Amazing
This book is amazing and I would highly recommend to anyone interested in reincarnation or who thinks they (or someone they know) has been here before. It helpfully condenses past life scientific research into one book as well as giving personal accounts and experiences. It also serves as manual for anyone whose children are talking about past lives and how to deal with this.Great, informative and fascinating!
