Awesome buttons for my custom joycons
Took several hours but I found it to be quite fun once I got the hang of it. Buttons fit perfectly and I didn’t have to shave them or cut them any special way I just twisted and pulled. I HIGHLY recommend practicing with an old joycon first before taking apart the ones you want to replace because the kit does not include the tool you need to pry the battery out with and you have to use your fingers which caused me to pull the battery out the wrong way and short circuit it (good thing it was an old joycon). Overall, the buttons are great, everything works and clicks fine, just be careful and patient.

CAUTION
Be extra careful on the install. Our controllers have intermittent connection issues and the player 1-4 LEDs went out on one side. But it looks excellent.

Exactly as pictured
Looks exactly like the pictures. Not hard at all to install, especially with the provided video. Nintendo has designed it so that it's pretty much impossible to put buttons in the wrong place anyway. Just remember which screw goes where. I've had the white buttons on the Dark Green set for about a year, and they haven't stained yellow or anything. There is a little shine as the matte finish has worn off, but its still nice and white. I don't have sweaty palms or anything though, nor does it go through particularly heavy daily use.Importantly, take care not to strip the default screws on the outside shell of the joycons. Nintendo's screws are terrible and very easy to strip. I replaced the buttons the first time and one screw essentially cannot be taken out anymore. I'd HIGHLY recommend changing the default outer screws to the ones provided in the little bag that comes with the buttons. Those are much better. The interior screws do not have this issue.

Broken JoyCon
I broke the JoyCons on my son's new Nintendo Switch that he was getting for his birthday and it cost me around $80 to buy a new pair.I'm pretty sure it's my own fault, but should still be a warning to other parents; especially considering the fact that I build and repair electronic equipment all the time at the recording studio I work at.I didn't take it seriously enough. I took the helping-hands and magnifying light from my work bench at the studio, but then I set them up on a toddler table in front of the couch. One of the screws stripped, and a few of the buttons don't move right. In hindsight, I should've brought my Wowstick home too, instead of tightening by hand. Don't make the same mistake. Get a good quality motorized precision screwdriver for electronic repair before you modify your JoyCons.Usually snapping plastic pieces off of a mold skeleton will leave rough points where they were snapped (like parts for model cars), but there were no rough spots where I snapped them off, so that's a very big plus. The color is a bit dull, but (at least in this case) it was supposed to be.All in all, I give it 4 out of 5. It is what it appears to be, but reassembly can be problematic without the right tools and the lack of paint in the letters/arrows leaves room for improvement.RECOMMENDED TOOLS:□ High-quality precision Screwdriver set□ A Wowstick/High-quality motorized precision screwdriver□ A sturdy table & chair□ Magnetic electronic repair mat□ Helping hands set with bendable illuminated magnifying glass.□ Patience and calmness

A no-brainer to go with your custom shell swap
There's pretty much no reason to not also pick up some custom buttons if you're already making custom Joycons. While eXtremeRate's own Joycon shell replacement kits do come with a set of black buttons, as well as your original gray ones from your existing Joycons, chances are if you're already doing a shell swap then you probably want custom button colors too.The colors offered here are mostly identical to the shell colors offered, and they all have hues that work together quite well if you're going to mix and match. These buttons feel more matte than the stock Joycons', which I'd describe as feeling like chalk or a PEZ candy. Additionally, the legends are engraved instead of printed like OEM buttons. I can imagine that some would prefer these for offering more grip for your fingertips, but personally I'd like a more glossy feel like the originals, or possibly the chrome options offered by eXtremeRate.Installing these went flawlessly, and you'd be doing this step during a shell swap regardless of if you're using custom buttons or not, which is why I say you might as well cop these along with a shell replacement. Simply unsnap them from the frame (it doesn't matter if the "base" around the bottom of the button ends up getting a little bit peeled or chipped, as it will not be visible on the inside of the Joycons), ensure you're placing each button in the right spot, line them up with the notches around the holes, and drop them in.Overall, there's not as much to say about these replacement buttons than the shells, but they're still an essential addition for custom Joycons!

Wasn’t easy, but definitely not impossible
Watch a YouTube video, follow it step by step, if it requires brute force then you’re doing it wrong. Otherwise this was pretty simple to install, I recommend having the tools you need like a switch specific fix it kit that’ll have your tweezers in it. I think these came with the screwdrivers you need, they’re a really nice quality I’ll even keep it. Highly recommend

Solid button upgrade for custom Joycons
I paint models and modify anything from gaming consoles to cars so finding a good part is important. Although these are basic plastic buttons, being able to purchase them in multiple colors, and having zero issue with this set on install was quite nice. They go great with my metallic mint green w/ grape purple umbre Joycon and Switch shells that I painted.Definitely a solid beginner upgrade to customizing your switch since Joycons are relatively easy to tear down, just have the right tools, and take your time. Installation of these is pretty easy.
