Daily Rituals: Women at Work

LOVED this book
This book give limited but excellent information on a large variety of artists. Just enough to make you curious, in which case you can then research more more in depth on an artist that may have caught your attention. For me, Janet Frame, who I had never heard of. In the chapter on her, it mentioned a documentary that had been done. I put the doc on my Netflix list, after watching the documentary...I was even more intrigued and just ordered a book by Fame. Definitely a book worth getting

This book gave me permission
Reading Mason’s first book DAILY RITUALS was fascinating. I loved learning about so many amazing people and their unique and personal habits. But it wasn’t until I read Mason’s second book, DAILY RITUALS: WOMEN AT WORK, that I felt I had deeper permission to set up my days in my own idiosyncratic ways. Not that I wasn’t already writing, working, cooking, cleaning, and playing in my own way already, but reading this book with all its interesting, wonderful, eccentric, and groundbreaking female creators gave me the supportive push that I needed to be even more of who I am, as a writer, an artist, and a woman. And for that, I am grateful.

Daily Rituals Women at Work couldn’t be timelier.
I truly enjoyed reading about such amazing women. Many I knew of like Coco Chanel, Nina Simone and Louisa May Alcott to name a few. Many I didn’t, but was able to gain glimpses into their lives. I like the fact that even though the author groups certain artist together; you can skip around and read about whoever strikes you as interesting. Also I like the authors prose. I highly recommend this book.

Thank you
Read the first book but always had a little sour taste in my mouth about most of the masters and geniuses being men. I was so happy to see this come out, and to see Mason address the disparity head-on in the intro. It was inspiring and very interesting to read about all the different approaches to work. Done with sensitivity. Great book!

Helps Writers and Other Creators
I loved Mason Currey's first book, Daily Rituals, and this second does not disappoint. It's instructive for those who are writers, dancers, artists--anyone who creates new ideas for a living--to see the daily practices of people who have been successful over time at doing so. You realized that you must have practices that value your work, and at the same time these practices can be uniquely your own. The book is written for the attention span of modern-day readers, as a series of short vignettes about different creators.

Great sequel
I’m a business a school professor and loved the original version of this. I often give it as a gift to PhD students as they contemplate their own craft...I’m excited about getting even more stories. Keep this series going!

a fascinating, informative, thought-provoking book.
Currey's book is full of interesting facts about creative women. A fine piece of research that wears its learning lightly.

Would have loved more information
I enjoyed reading about all these creative women. It was interesting to learn about how they went about their rituals. I just wish the author would have selected less artists and focused much more attention on just a select few and written more deeply about them. Most of these artists just received one or two paragraphs. Hardly enough to really get to know these people.
