Knifemaker extraordinaire Gil Hibben continues to design exceptional knives made for hard everyday use and the Gil Hibben Old West Bowie Knife - Bloodwood Edition takes it even further! Take it with you into the most untamed environments and use it under the harshest conditions. It has a keenly sharp, 14" stainless steel clip point blade with a high-polish finish and a beefy profile. The red-brown, natural-look wooden handle is complemented by a gold-plated blade catcher and handguard. A custom leather belt sheath protects and stores the massive bowie knife. This is a design, which has been reimagined by Gil Hibben, and brought back for a very, very limited time. Don’t let this one get away!

Beautiful knife
If you like bowie knives and want a real mean looking, big ol bad bowie you need this one. Makes my 1917, natchez and trail master bowies look like moras. It's freakin huge!!.. Excellent MIRROR polish, handle and fittings. Mine came wicked sharp. It doesnt say what type of steel specifically on the box or on the blade but it shouldn't matter that much as it really is a wall hanger. Not that it isn't capable. It certainly feels capable but thats not why i bought it. It would make an insanely great pig sticker. The only prob is in the sheath. The sheath itself is fine. Good quality and put together well. Its more in the knife tho i suppose cus that accent bar makes it a real pain in the you know what to get in n out. If i were to use it i would insert it and wet form it around the bar and that would take care of that. All in all it's an amazing knife for your collection no matter what you do with it. Looks awesome in a case or on the wall or desk and I'm sure its capable of some work so to speak.. I personally would stick to using it as a defensive weapon on hikes in areas where there are apex predators as a back up to a gun or in place of if you can't carry for whatever reason. And you would easily and swiftly dispatch any size boar you might find on a hunt

The Best Review
First off, it is made in China and is labeled on the knife. However, this is a really good product. It's really sharp especially on the tip and is durable. The Sheath it comes with is pretty small and is difficult to put the knife in, I had to stretch it out a bit first. A lot of reviews say it's loose at the wooden grip but mine isn't, I would still be a bit cautious of those reviews because I'm not sure if they come differently.

Now, This is a Knife, mate.
This is the BIGGEST Bowie Knife that I have ever even heard of! The lines are clean, the edge is sharp, the wood-to-metal fit is solid and you can see yourself in the mirror finish. And this stuff about loose guards and fittings has some agenda behind it. -Nonsense. I am a collector of historic American edged weapons and I'm always looking for a blade with a story to tell. I was not disappointed listening to the Gil Hibben Great Western Bowie Knife. Not for the price, not for the looks. Yes, it's big but so is Texas. Yes, it's a great conversation starter but it probably could quiet any fighting words encountered, too.As to its practicality as a working knife; well, that just depends on what kind of work we're talking about here. Around the camp, the farm or the shop? There are better knives. Around a sandbar on the Mississippi in 1827 or the Alamo in 1836? Now, we're talking. Now, we're telling stories worth telling. Legends are like that.So go ahead and hang it on your wall. But keep it sharp and keep it ready. You won't regret the addition to your collection.

More suited to your wall than in your hand
This thing is huge and very heavy. If you are a body builder or pro wrestler you could use it for practical work for me it is just too big and heavy. If you want to intimidate some one, this might do the trick. It arrived in good condition with no noticeable flaws.

good looker!!
My son is 48 but he turned 21 when I gave him this knife. What a gift!! Bright and shiny, and a real asset to his collection. He's an accomplished artist as well as workman and this one made an impression that warmed me up too.

Don't waste your money buy stuff from crkt or cold steel do not buy China made gill hibben weapons you'll lose money every time sad to say to gill hibbens use to be some of the coolest knifes and now we get this didn't even come with a certificate and it was already open before it got to me and the handle had sticky substance all over it like a kid was playing with it

My suggestion go to trueswords.com they have never let me down
On the outside looking in this is a really really nice looking knife honestly I love it I bought some cheaper versions of this not too long ago and the finish is so much better than those but where I have a problem is the fit the handguard makes a lot of noise even just with slight movements there is a decently large space between the handle and the handguard and the fact that it was made in China also deduct some points overall it's a very pretty knife but that's about it good for pictures. The sheath is wonderful it's very nice very sleek overall that's what's carrying my scoring. 1 the knife does not fit the sheath whatsoever you have to force it. 2 the shift does not have snaps or even Velcro to hold the knife in it's sheath. One thing I think that this knife could really benefit from is a pin in the handle to hold the knife together, other than that it's a really pretty knife not $90 nice but still nice.
